Dr. Anirban Datta
Consultant Psychiatrist (DPM, DNB Psychiatry)
Transforming Mental Health and Child Development in Northeast India.
I am Dr. Anirban Datta
Consultant Psychiatrist dedicated to providing compassionate, evidence-based mental healthcare for adults, adolescents, and families. My training includes a Diploma in Psychological Medicine (DPM) from the prestigious Central Institute of Psychiatry, Ranchi, followed by DNB Psychiatry from K. J. Somaiya Medical College, Mumbai. I am privileged to be the first and currently the only practicing DNB-qualified Psychiatrist in Tripura.
My clinical philosophy is simple: every individual deserves to be heard with empathy, respect, and without judgment. Mental health concerns cannot be understood through symptoms alone. They require careful listening, a thorough understanding of a person's life circumstances, and a collaborative approach to treatment. I therefore place great emphasis on spending meaningful time with my patients, helping them understand their difficulties and working together to develop practical, personalized solutions.
Over the years, I also became increasingly aware of the challenges faced by families of children with neurodevelopmental, behavioral, and learning difficulties. Access to coordinated, multidisciplinary services was limited, often requiring parents to navigate fragmented systems with little guidance. To address this gap, I founded Happy Feet Child Development Academy, a dedicated child development and rehabilitation center focused exclusively on children and adolescents.
Happy Feet brings together developmental assessment, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, special education, behavioral interventions, parental guidance, and child and adolescent mental health services through a multidisciplinary team approach. The academy was established with the vision of providing structured, holistic, and accessible support for children and their families.
While my adult psychiatric practice and Happy Feet operate as distinct services, they are united by a common mission: improving mental health, developmental outcomes, and quality of life for individuals and families across Tripura and Northeast India.
